Taiga Biome continued....
This week's focus will be on where it is located and the climate in this part of the world. In second grade, we will learn the meaning of and importance of conifers to the environment and to the Taiga. We will begin a 'MIGHTY Tree' project that will span the biomes. We will discuss an 'adopt a tree' idea!! Stay tuned for further developments!
Nov. 30th-Dec. 4th
We will begin our trimester with an overview of BIOMES including a multimedia presentation about this fascinating concept. We will learn what a biome is, how many there are in the world and where exactly they are located. We will then focus specifically on the Taiga biome; defining it and learning in what countries/continents it is located.

Week of Nov. 2-6
Add fish, invertebrates and mammals to our Science Fact File this week. Research particular types of each category on the internet. Begin a poster with the most pertinent facts for each category, ie. where they live, what they eat, if they have a backbone, etc...
Week of Oct. 26-30
Add reptiles and bird groups to our Science Fact File, discussing and researching aspects of each of these categories of animals.
Gardening and nature will also be a topic of discussion this week as we will be tending our garden and exploring aspects of garden maintenance and care.
