Continue study of odd and even numbers discovering what happens when:

1. Two odd numbers are added together (even sum)

2.  Two even numbers are added together (even sum)

3.  An odd and an even number are added together (odd sum)

Look at and investigate patterns on 'Pascal's triangle'.  Use Go Figure by Johnny Ball to help us in this quest. 

Practice addition and subtraction math facts.  Begin the process of subraction with borrowing.

 

Homework:  Subtraction worksheet.

 

 

Continue subtraction with borrowing.  The Third Grade bake sale is this week so we will also be reviewing money and learning how to count back change.  This skill will go 'hand in hand' with our study of subtraction with borrowing. 

 

Homework:  Subtraction worksheet.

Continue subtraction/money skills practice.  Include use of calculator skills today, ie.  how to subtract dollar amounts using a calculator.  This will include using decimal points on the calculator and in writing the dollar amount on paper.

 

Homework:  Practice facts at home with flash cards for at least 10 minutes at a time with someone and by yourself (2 separate sessions of 10 minutes/session)

Read Bunny Money by Rosemary Wells.  Complete activities associated with counting money and making change. 

 

Homework: Count the change in your mom's purse and in your dad's pocket.  Complete the take-home worksheet!

Evaluation of concepts presented this week.
