Dec. 17-21
Monday - Read the chapter Up on Boggins Heights in the book The Hundred Dresses. Discuss why it is sometimes easier to find the flaws in other people than to focus on the good in them. Make a list with all of our classmates names, then write down something that we admire about them.
Tuesday - Finish The Hundred Dresses and reflect on what we have read. Discuss the following quote by LeVar Burton: "The world that we live in is the one that we create. We create our world with every thought that we think, with every word that we speak and with every action that we take."
Wednesday - Write about the world that we create for ourselves. Fill in the blank then expand the story ourselves.
Friday - Holiday celebration - Discuss how the holidays are celebrated in different cultures. Share some of our own traditions. Why are traditions important? Why is it important to respect other people's traditions?
Dec. 10-14
Monday - Group work evalutaion. Read the chapter A Bright Blue Day. Discuss our own experiences with bullying, being made fun of, and being excluded.
Wednesday - Write a letter to Peggy asking her to stop teasing Wanda.
Friday - Read the chapter about the contest. Begin our own design contest.
Dec. 3-7
Monday - Begin a new book for the trimester - The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes. Read chapters 1 and 2.
Wednesday - Work in groups to present a typical day in the life of Peggy, Maddie, and Wanda. Each group will be assigned one girl and work together to create the beginning, middle and end of each girls day.
Friday - Each group will present their work to the class and guide us through a day in the life of Peggy, Maddie or Wanda.
