The 4th grade science curriculum is based around the theme of energy.  What is energy?  What forms can it take?  How can it be harnessed and used?  The students discover the answers to these questions and many more as they are guided through hands on experiments involving electricity, sound, light, simple machines, and the food chain.

The students also focus on energy from the stand point of the focus question: "How does where/when we live influence how we live?".  We take an in-depth look at renewable and nonrenewable resources and how each is used by humans to meet the energy demand of modern society.  Finally, the students take an active role in looking for ways they can conserve energy and help preserve our nonrenewable resources.
