Students should finish writing and then complete at least two of the following revision tasks.

 

  1. Complete at least one peer revision.
  2. Find one novel with excellent description of setting or characters. Read the description. Find one description in your story to rewrite based on the author’s style. Comment with the book, author, and page # you were inspired by. In your comment, describe what about the author's style inspired you. Then resolve the comment.
  3. Find 10 words to change or add that increase the vivid description in your story. Add them to our poster if they aren’t there already. Comment on each word you change so that I can see it. Then resolve the comment.
  4. List your story’s main events (below the story or on a separate sheet) to check that it makes sense as written.
  5. Delete all scene labels, tidy up font and format.
  6. Use the revision poster by our class library to revise/edit.
  7. Self-assess your rubric and edit your story accordingly. Write revision tasks you've completed on your rubric.

Mini-Canterbury Tales:  On a white sheet of paper (can use up to 2 sheets front and back – stapled), write your own mini-Canterbury Tales.  Imagine you and a group of friends are going on a pilgrimage to see something special.  Begin your story by describing your pilgrimage, and then include at least 2 “mini-stories” like Chaucer does.  Make sure to finish your pilgrimage!  Illustrate your tales as Chaucer’s manuscripts were illustrated (here are some examples of The Canterbury Tales illustrations:  1   2   3   4).
