Monday

- Annotating a text.

 

Read “Fate” and annotate.  Way of the Warrior paper due 11/4.
Tuesday

-Blitz!

- Discussion: Memoir vs. (Auto)Biography

1.    Read “Junior High School at Last” and annotate the text.

2.    RR – Mini-Memoir.  At least one full page.  

Prompt: Think about Ji-Li’s conflict about whether or not to help her Aunt Xi-wen on page 142.  Describe a moment when you had to make a difficult decision.

3.    Way of the Warrior final draft due TOMORROW.  Paperclip in this order:  Final Draft, Rough Draft(s), self-assessed rubric.

 

 

Wednesday

-Way of the Warrior paper due!

-Blitz!

-Discussion: Propaganda in RSG.

-Brief intro to integrated propaganda project. 

 

 

 

Read and annotate "Locked Up."

Thursday

-Propaganda techniques

-Finding propaganda techniques in RSG.

Read and annotate "An Educable Child."  Find one example of a propaganda technique being used in your daily life and write it at the bottom of your propaganda handout.

 

Friday

Week 11:  November 9th - 13th, 2009

Monday

 

-Finish finding propaganda techniques in RSG.

-Play MAD  PROPS!

 

Bring any research completed in SS to LA Monday  to start drafting your speeches.  Bring computers to class Monday. Read "Half-City Jiangs" and annotate.
Tuesday

 

-Update Continuum of Change.

-Writing workshop:  Speech writing -- narrowing our topic and completing a persuasion map.

 

Look through all chapters from "Propaganda Wall" to "Half-City Jiangs" searching for evidence as to what the characters are like and how they've changed.  Place spirals and deltas in book as needed.

 

 

Wednesday

 

-Intro to public speaking!

-View public speaking examples and discuss.

-Create our public speaking rubric.

 

 

 

 

 

Do not work on speech draft, but do look for facts/evidence to finish persuasion map and draft in class on Monday.

 

Finish Thursday night's homework.

 

Thursday

-Writing Workshop: Persuasion Map and speech draft.

-Review excellent speeches.

Find any facts/evidence you starred as lacking on your persuasion map and fill them in.  Do not work on your speech draft.

 

Friday

-Writing Workshop: Speech draft

2.    Read “The Class Education Exhibition” and annotate.
