October 14: Prepare for trip. Ishmael activity.
The Book Discussion Team has selected the following themes from Ishmael for us to focus on:
- the importance of recording history, a true history (not one that starts with the advent of agriculture)
- our cultural mythology is what is killing us, not any flaw in human nature
- there is no one right way to live
- we are members of a community of life
October 15-17: Overnight trip to Longbranch Environmental Education Center
Participation on the trip will be assessed with the following rubric:
Longbranch Overnight Service Trip Rubric
Your trip score will count toward your service course grade and toward your Biology grade.
October 21: Discuss Service deadlines. Develop Action Plans.
October 28: Work out details of Action Plan proposals.
November 4: Formalize Action Plan proposals.
November 11: Watch Wasteland video. Type Action Plan proposals.
Proposals should address the following questions:
What is your Action Plan? Give an overview.
Who is your audience?
What message are you trying to share?
What is the reasoning/justification for spreading your message?
How will you execute our plan? Use as much detail as you have planned so far.
When will your work take place?
Sources/Resources: people, books, websites
November 18: Finish typing Action Plan proposals and email them to Lysne and Fitzgerald by some time tonight (11/18).
When you receive approval by email, share your final plan with your parents and have them sign the proposal.
