Page history last edited by Cindy Turner 1 mo ago

ONLINE

The internet is where you will probably do most of your college research, but beware! All college search sites are not created equal! The following are some of the best sites out there.

www.petersons.com - search engine

www.collegeboard.com - search engine

www.unigo.com – student reviews of their colleges (new site, not all schools are included yet)

www.princetonreview.com - search engine

www.nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cool - this is the data source that most websites and books use

www.ecampustours.com – If you want pictures, this is the place!

www.cfnc.org – describes all North Carolina colleges

www.youniversitytv.com – Short videos of campuses around the country

www.carla.umn.edu/lctl - information on less commonly taught languages at colleges around the country

www.studentsreview.com - get the word straight from current students!

www.collegeconfidential.com - more insights from students

www.collegeportraits.org - great profiles on public universities

www.members.ucan-network.org - This is Mrs. Turner's new favorite site. Check it out!

BOOKS

While these don't include the pretty pictures you will find on the web, college guide books are a trusted source of information. Be sure the book you are consulting is current (you will find the year on the front cover). These books are available at all public libraries, and many will be in our College Room. Here are some favorites:

The College Finder, by Steve Antanoff

Ruggs Recommendations on the Colleges

Fiske Guide to the Colleges

Princeton Review College Guide

College Board College Guide
