6th Grade Quiz Bowl Before School Practice Schedule

7:40-8:10 Monday March 16 and

7:40-8:10 Monday March 23

The meet is on March 25th during school flex period. No need to stay after school!

Calculators (6th and 7th):   Everyone should already have a scientific calculator to use a school and at home.  They are necessary for the math final exams which will have calculator active and inactive sections.  A scientific calculator handles negative numbers, exponents, square roots, and trigonometric functions (just 7th for trig).  These calculators run $10 to $20 and the TI-30XS Multiview is highly recommended for its ease of use and intuitive display.

Field Trip (8th grade):  As part of our 8th grade Service Learning program, "Bridging Generations", we will make our last visit to the Brian Center in Mooresville on Tuesday, June 9.  We will depart the school at 10:20am and return to Woodlawn at 11:30am for our closing assembly and picnic.  During this short visit, we will show the residents a slideshow of our Washington DC trip.  We are looking forward to viewing this slideshow that April prepared with the pictures of the trip along with music.  We will also give the residents the wheelchair bags they made in Art class and say good bye.

Field Trip (8th grade):  On Friday, June 5, the 8th grade will be going to Landsford Canal State Park in SC as part of Service Learning, SS, and Art. The students will ride on a charter bus with residents of The Pines and members of the Davidson Historical Society (who are generously sponsoring the trip!).  Parents will need to drop off students at the Baker Sports Complex between 8-8:15 Friday morning.  Afternoon pick up wlll be at the Baker Sports Complex between 2:30 and 3:00.  Students should bring a bag lunch, drink and snack.

NEEDED: Woodlawn Student Artists - Art show/sale

Also as part of "April is for Arts in North Mecklenburg County", Tori RInker and Elizabeth Davis will be displaying and selling products they have created from recycled items to promote sustainable living as part of their service learning class.  They would like to invite other students to join them at the Woodlawn booth to also display and sell their original artwork (2-D or 3-D).  The work should be priced and mounted or matted so it may be displayed. Please bring your items to the Cornelius Arts Center by 12:00 on April 18th to set-up.  The sale is from 1:00-4:00.  If you cannot make it to the festival, you may leave your pieces with Mrs. Lysne. The festival is a day of community and creativity and will include live performances, artist demonstrations, hands-on art activities with The Children’s Arts Project, food and fun. Please let me know if you would like to participate or have any questions -  klysne@woodlawnschool.org
