PSAT and PLAN at Woodlawn

PSAT: October 14, 2009

PLAN: December 2, 2009

The PSAT and PLAN are practice tests for the SAT and ACT, respectively. Each test will be administered at school during the school day to all 10th and 11th graders, and no registration is required. We believe it is important to administer both tests to help students become familiar with the format for each test and to start deciding if one test may be better suited to them than the other.

It is important to note that these practice tests do NOT include the writing section that students will see on the real SAT and ACT.

While studying for these tests is not required, students may feel more comfortable with the test if they look over the format ahead of time. The general websites for these tests (www.collegeboard.com and www.act.org) offer practice questions and format guides.

Studying is only recommended for juniors taking the PSAT who may score among the top students in the nation. The junior PSAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship program. If you think your scores might qualify you for this program, see Mrs. Turner by September of your junior year for preparation tips.
