Awards $50-$5,000 to students in grades 7-12 who write an essay analyzing a pressing technological or scientific issue. Due in January.

National Peace Essay Contest

Awards $1,000-$10,000 to students in grades 9-12 who write a foreign policy essay (topics change each year; see website for details).

Voice of Democracy

Awards $1,000-$25,000 to students in grades 9-12 who write a 3-5 minute speech on a patriotic topic and record themselves giving the speech. Speeech topics change each year.

North Carolina Junior Elon Scholars

Deadline is February 10 of the junior year. You must take the SAT no later than January of the junior year, and scores must be above 1870 for consideration.

Furman Scholars Program

Students must be nominated by their school by February of the junior year. SAT score of 1350, PSAT of 135, or ACT of 30 required. Let Mrs. Turner know if you are interested.
