Service Learning

Second graders become contributing members of the community through service. In Life Skills and Social Studies class, they learn the importance of being compassionate, responsible individuals. They are able to build on those character traits through monthly Service Learning trips into the community.  Second graders focus their service at The Davidson and Cornelius Public Library.  The Public Library system has recently experienced budget cuts and is currently relying heavily on volunteers.  Students help shelve books, assist with daily activities in the library, and read with small groups of preschoolers.  Second Grade students will also be working to collect books and raise money for these two public libraries.
