• History: In World History I, students learn how and why early peoples joined together to form societies. Students compare the origins of ancient civilizations in Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Indus Valley, and the Yellow River Valley. Students then examine the impact of written communication and trade in the advancement of civilizations such as the Greeks and Romans. More...

• Geometry: In Geometry, students examine how reasoning and logic enable members of a society to make civilized decisions. The students learn how to prove a hypothesis by induction and deduction. More...

• Biology: Biology is the study of how living organisms operate. Woodlawn’s biology course for 9th graders introduce students to many topics that comprise the enormous scope of biology. Students engage in studies of biological molecules, cells, genetics, evolution, and human anatomy. More...

• Spanish: This year in Spanish, students perfect their grammar skills with a survey in literature. Students read from a variety of sources such as: myths, fables, folk tales, short stories, poems, and news articles. More...

• Life Sports: Life Sports teaches the value of healthy living and its impact on the quality of life through physical activity, appraisal of personal health, fitness and injury prevention, game skills, and the promotion of sportsmanship and self-confidence. More...

• Electives:  Students have the opportunity to take one elective course each trimester.  Courses are offered in visual arts, performing arts, healthy living, and humanities.
