Technical Theatre is a survey as well as a production course. The survey portion of the semester is divided between exploration of the history of stagecraft, techniques of scenic design, stage construction and effects, costume and makeup design,  lighting and sound, basic theory and practice of stage combat. Activities include understanding stage architecture and planning sets by constructing scale models, introduction to basic tools/supplies for set construction, as well as lighting instruments/board operation. We take class off-campus on occasion to see some of these topics in practice. The production aspect of the course involves putting our skills into practice by designing, constructing, and running sets for the middle and upper school plays.

Healthful Living

The Healthful Living elective helps students develop and identify healthy behaviors that will improve their quality of life. This class combines physical activity with classroom instruction.  Classroom topics include, but are not limited to, mental disorders, organ donation, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, collaboration skills, weight management and nutrition. Physical activity includes both team and individual sports, such as basketball, soccer, badminton, etc.
